Sculptural Human Action- Performance Art+ Video (2012-Now)
Sculptural Human Action is an interdisciplinary and immersive project within my body of work that encompasses the use of video, photography, fiber art, sculpture, sound, and performance art. The human is presented as a sculptural form, conductor, transmitter, messenger, material configuration, and assimilator of light and action. Exploring hypnotic suggestions, shapeshifting, catharsis activities, rituals, and otherworldly personas, each participant delves into the realms of sculptural construction and role playing within each environment.
The book publication documenting my interdisciplinary performance art and light installation, “Infinity Stage: Time Dilation Geometry,” reflects my art residency at the Coaxial Arts Foundation in Los Angeles. During this inaugural residency, I was awarded the Mike Kelley Foundation grant. I curated workshops and screenings that united artists, activists, and musicians while producing two performance art/ art installations and videos. The live immersive experience featured performers adorned in mylar vinyl clothing engaging with reflective objects, inviting exploration of fantasy and light reflections. In 2018, I exhibited prints from this body of work in “At Large: Part 1”, a Group Art Exhibition at Reyes Finn Gallery in Detroit, Michigan.
Human Glass Rotation is an experiential light art installation and sound art performance that intricately weaves together light, shadow, reflection, and refraction to explore the fluidity of time. In this immersive experience, one performer adheres to mirror pieces to another, who balances on a spinning pedestal, radiating reflections onto the space and audience, while the costumes and sculptures echo the architectural elements of Yud’s Gallery within the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Presented as part of the Soundwave/Architecture festival by Mediate’s Art Group, this work invites diverse public audiences to engage in a collective healing journey, fostering deep sensory connections between the individual, their surroundings, and the cosmos.
